NLEX-C5 NORTHLINK SECTION 96% COMPLETE, SET TO IMPROVE ACCESS TO QUEZON CITY

Motorists traveling from North and Central Luzon and western Metro Manila are expected to benefit from improved road connectivity as the NLEX-C5 Northlink Mindanao Avenue–Quirino Highway section approaches completion, with construction progress reaching 96%.

The 2-kilometer elevated expressway, also known as Segment 8.2 Section 1A, is expected to provide an additional route for motorists heading to and from Quezon City, offering an alternative to Mindanao Avenue and helping make travel more convenient.

Designed for all-weather operations, the new expressway will feature closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras, speed management systems, advanced RFID readers and Neology antennas for toll collection. Roadway lighting, traffic signs, pavement markings, protective barriers, and reflective safety devices will also be installed to support safer driving and better traffic management.

Construction is now focused on completing concrete barriers and expansion joints along the mainline, finishing the eastbound and westbound on- and off-ramps at Quirino Highway, and carrying out the remaining civil works ahead of the segment’s opening.

Once operational, the expressway will be accessible 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and will accommodate all vehicle classes. It is projected to serve around 11,000 vehicles daily.

The new connection will allow motorists from Quirino Highway to access NLEX and continue toward Central and North Luzon. Through the NLEX network, motorists will also have connections to the NLEX Connector, providing access toward Manila, the University Belt, and Makati.

NLEX President and General Manager Luis S. Reñon said the company is expediting construction to provide infrastructure that can help reduce travel time and expenses, particularly amid fluctuating fuel prices.

“We want to give motorists greater freedom not only in how they travel, but also in how they spend their time and money. While fuel prices and other travel-related costs are beyond our control, we can provide reliable road infrastructure that helps people reach their destinations more efficiently. That is the value we aim to deliver through this project,” Reñon said.

The section forms part of the 11.3-kilometer NLEX-C5 Northlink Project, which is designed to extend from Mindanao Avenue to C5/C.P. Garcia near Katipunan Avenue. Once completed, the broader project is expected to strengthen road connections between Metro Manila and Central and North Luzon through the NLEX network.

NLEX Corporation operates under Metro Pacific Tollways Corporation (MPTC), the toll road arm of Metro Pacific Investments Corporation (MPIC).
