Bisteng Tomasino: Santo Tomas Launches Fashion with Purpose for 6th Cityhood Anniversary
SANTO TOMAS, Batangas — The City of Santo Tomas marked its 6th Cityhood Anniversary with the launch of Bisteng Tomasino, a fashion initiative highlighting Batangueño culture, creativity, and compassion.
Spearheaded by Mayor Atty. Arth Jhun Aguilar Marasigan and supported by Ms. Leilanie M. Escarez, Chairperson of Mutya ng Sto. Tomas, the project aims to celebrate local artistry while promoting community development.

The initiative seeks to:
Promote homegrown designers, stylists, and materials under the Bisteng Tomasino brand.
Preserve Tomasino fashion heritage for younger generations.
Provide training opportunities for aspiring models and designers.
Revitalize tailoring businesses in areas like Barangay Santa Clara.
Position Tomasino fashion on national and international platforms.
Strengthen ties with fashion groups and organizations worldwide.
This year’s gala also carried a charitable purpose, as part of the proceeds will benefit cerebral palsy patients in the city, one of Mayor Marasigan’s advocacies.
“Fashion is not only about looking good and feeling good—it is about doing good,” Ms. Escarez said, emphasizing the event’s theme.

Featured designer Joey Magpantay echoed the message of inclusivity and heart in design.
“Lahat po tayo pwedeng maging designer,” he said. “Hindi kailangan mahal para masabing maganda. Ang importante, ibigay mo ang puso sa bawat disenyo.”
Through Bisteng Tomasino, Santo Tomas underscores its commitment to fashion that is not only creative, but also purposeful.
