Mapúa MCL Earns Tier 1 Status in Engineering Education
Mapúa Malayan Colleges Laguna (Mapúa MCL) has reached a new milestone in engineering education after being officially recognized as a Tier 1 Institution by the Philippine Technological Council (PTC).
The prestigious classification was awarded following the completion and verification of Mapúa MCL’s Self-Tiering Assessment Report (STAR), which was submitted as part of its accreditation and international recognition process under PTC’s Accreditation and Certification Board for Engineering and Technology (PTC-ACBET) through PTC CASEE.
Based on the strong recommendation of PTC-ACBET, the PTC confirmed that Mapúa MCL met all required thresholds under the PTC Tier Classification System (TCS). With this, Mapúa MCL joins the ranks of top institutions whose engineering programs meet global standards of quality and excellence.
The Tier 1 classification covers all seven of Mapúa MCL’s engineering programs, all accredited by PTC-ACBET:
B.S. Chemical Engineering
B.S. Civil Engineering
B.S. Computer Engineering
B.S. Electrical Engineering
B.S. Electronics Engineering
B.S. Industrial Engineering
B.S. Mechanical Engineering
This recognition carries international implications. Under the Washington Accord, only engineering programs from Tier 1 institutions accredited by the PTC from 2023 onward are eligible for global recognition. This means that Mapúa MCL engineering graduates will now hold qualifications acknowledged by member countries of the Accord, boosting their global mobility and career opportunities.
In addition, Mapúa MCL’s accredited programs will also be included in the register of accredited programs of the Federation of Engineering Institutions of Asia and the Pacific (FEIAP), in line with its guidelines for engineering education.
With these dual international endorsements from the Washington Accord and FEIAP, Mapúa MCL solidifies its reputation as a premier institution providing world-class, globally competitive engineering education.
