SSS releases P18.8 billion in 13th month pension for 3.7 million pensioners

QUEZON CITY, Philippines — December 9, 2025. The Social Security System (SSS) has released a total of P18.8 billion for the 13th month pension of nearly 3.7 million pensioners, providing timely financial support for the holiday season. This rollout follows the directive of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., reinforced by Finance Secretary Frederick D. Go and the Social Security Commission.

The 13th month pension was credited in two batches. The first batch, released on December 1, covered about 2.13 million pensioners amounting to P10.5 billion. The second batch, credited on December 4, reached 1.53 million pensioners with a total of P8.3 billion.

SSS President and CEO Robert Joseph M. de Claro said the annual cash gift reflects the System’s commitment to supporting its pensioners, especially during the Christmas season.

“This is our way of giving back to our pensioners who have contributed to the System during their productive years. We hope this additional benefit brings joy and relief to them and their families this Christmas,” de Claro said.

This year’s payout is also higher for pensioners listed as of August 31, 2025, following the implementation of the Pension Reform Program in September. Under the program, retirement and disability pensioners received a 10% increase, while survivorship pensioners received a 5% increase, boosting long-term financial security for beneficiaries.

The SSS reminded pensioners to ensure their bank account details are updated to avoid delays in receiving their benefits.

The agency also reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding members’ funds, noting that the Commission on Audit (COA) issued an unmodified opinion for 2024, confirming the SSS’ strong financial standing and adherence to proper governance, even as it addresses specific audit observations through established corrective actions.
