BDO, SM Celebrate Overseas Filipinos in Heartfelt Pamaskong Handog 2025 in Batangas
BDO Unibank (BDO) and SM Supermalls (SM) officially kicked off this year’s Pamaskong Handog festivities with a touching tribute to overseas Filipinos (OFs) and their families at SM City Sto. Tomas, Batangas on December 6. Now in its 14th year, the annual tradition continues to honor the dedication, sacrifices, and enduring love of OFs across the globe.
The event forms part of BDO’s Alagang Kabayan advocacy, which aims to provide OF clientele not only secure and dependable banking solutions but also a sense of homecoming—especially during the Christmas season.

“Our OFs give so much of themselves for the people they love,” said Genie T. Gloria, senior vice president and head of BDO’s remittance business. “This year’s theme, ‘Abot ang Pangarap Kasama ang SM at BDO,’ reflects how dreams—whether owning a home, completing an education, or building a secure future—become achievable with partners who support them every step of the way.”
A Wish Fulfilled for an OF Mother and Daughter
One of the most moving moments came from the story of Mildred Marquez, a 52-year-old OF who spent 14 years working in Paris. Despite being away every Christmas, her hard work allowed her to purchase a condo and several properties in Quezon through BDO’s loan services.
While her ultimate dream is to one day take her mother, Nanay Marcela, on a first-ever trip to Paris, Mildred made a different wish for this year’s celebration: for her mother to meet her longtime idol, actor Piolo Pascual. The emotional surprise, arranged by BDO and SM, brought cheers and heartfelt reactions from the audience.

Performances and Festive Fun
The event also featured lively performances from Piolo Pascual—BDO ambassador for nearly two decades—along with lifestyle personality Small Laude, singer-comedian Donita Nose, and the comedy trio Beks Battalion. Hosts Tetay, Ton, and Tart kept the crowd energized throughout the program.

Families enjoyed raffle draws, games, and interactive booths showcasing services such as BDO Pay, Kabayan Loan, and Cash Agad.
SM Supermalls reaffirmed its commitment to uplifting OF families, with senior assistant vice president for Marketing Operations Ritchie T. Gonzales sharing, “SM has always been a home for Filipino families. Together with BDO, we celebrate our OFs who work tirelessly for their loved ones. We want them to feel appreciated and assured that they will always have a place to return to.”
Keeping the Christmas Spirit Alive
For communities in Batangas and nearby provinces, Pamaskong Handog has become one of the most awaited holiday gatherings—bringing back the warmth, joy, and unity that define the Filipino Christmas spirit.
“As we celebrate another year of Pamaskong Handog, we’re reminded of the extraordinary strength and love of our OF communities,” Gloria added. “Their stories continue to inspire us to support them not only during the holidays, but all year round.”
