PNP Laguna Urged to Go Beyond Duty in Strengthening Public Service

The Laguna Provincial Police Office (LPPO) marked its Monday flag-raising ceremony with the awarding of the Medalya ng Kagalingan to exemplary officers, underscoring the critical role of information officers in fostering public trust.

Speaking on behalf of Provincial Director PCOL Jonar Yupio, PLTCOL Franco Allex Reglos highlighted that the functions of government agencies are interconnected, calling for unity between the Department of Health, Department of Education, and local government units in uplifting the lives of Lagunenses.

“Unity in Service. Our work is not isolated—it’s linked together for one purpose,” Reglos said, adding that events like these renew the police’s commitment to serve beyond the call of duty.

LPPO Public Information Officer Chief PLTCOL Jojo Sabeniano echoed the value of close coordination with the Provincial Information Office to ensure that stories about the police are accurate, timely, and inspiring.

Provincial Information Officer Head Danilo Lucas, guest speaker for the occasion, praised the accomplishments of PNP Laguna and its partnership with the PIO. “Mga balita na ang nagsasabi na mahusay ang PNP Laguna,” he noted, stressing that the police must take the lead in sharing credible information. “Dapat sa atin mismo manggaling dahil tayo ay protector ng ating sambayanan.”

Lucas urged personnel to uphold dignity and principle, reminding them that talent alone is meaningless without integrity. “Dignidad at prinsipyo ang kailangan natin para tayo ay lumago dito,” he said firmly.

This year’s Medalya ng Kagalingan honorees—PMAJ Serafin Tuero Gapunan, PCpl John Kestier Leogo Capellan, PCpl Oishin Monataña Nonzares, PMSG Paul John Avanzado, and PCpl Gerald Romero Canillas—were recognized for outstanding performance in police operations, investigations, and law enforcement efforts that bolstered peace and order in the province.

Lucas further emphasized that the LPPO–PIO collaboration has improved the flow of truthful information, reinforcing community trust through transparency. Citing Governor Sol Aragones’s journey from journalist to public servant, he urged everyone to “stand firm for what is right” and assured the police of the administration’s appreciation for their sacrifices.

“Before, I was the father of the newsroom. Now, I am the father of the Provincial Information Office—and hopefully, I will also be the father of PNP Laguna,” Lucas concluded, promoting the GOByernong may SOLusyon advocacy for responsive, inclusive, and solution-oriented governance.
