Vietnamese Conglomerate Vingroup Eyes Investment in San Pablo City
San Pablo City, August 4, 2025 – A high-level meeting was recently held at Villa Escudero between representatives of Vingroup, Villa Escudero Plantations and Resort, and the City Government of San Pablo to explore potential investment opportunities in the city.
Present during the discussions were Mr. Alexander M. Cruz, Chairman of XentroMall Developer, Inc. and Vingroup’s Philippine representative; Ms. Rosalie A. Escudero, President and CEO of Villa Escudero; Villa Escudero Directors Daniel A. Escudero and Carmela Balcazar, along with other board members who joined virtually; Mayor Najie B. Gapangada Jr.; and Fr. Levi Dimaunahan, Senior Adviser to Mayor Gapangada on Investments and Governance. The meeting was facilitated by Don Ares Escudero.
According to Mr. Cruz, the next stage will involve a follow-up meeting with Vingroup’s senior executives from Vietnam, while Villa Escudero reviews the investment proposal in detail. If realized, the project is expected to create substantial employment opportunities for San Pablo residents, given Vingroup’s stature as one of Vietnam’s largest and most diversified corporations.
Vingroup, originally founded in Ukraine in 1993, entered the Vietnamese market in the early 2000s through its flagship brands Vincom and Vinpearl, which later merged in 2012 to form Vingroup Joint Stock Company. Today, the conglomerate operates across five key sectors: industry and technology, real estate and services, infrastructure, green energy, and social enterprises. It has also announced plans to launch Vietnam’s first bullet train service by 2026.
Renowned for its world-class innovations, Vingroup has become a household name in Vietnam, setting consumer trends and establishing a strong international reputation. In the Philippines, its automotive arm, VinFast, is gradually gaining recognition for its line of electric vehicles.
The potential entry of Vingroup into San Pablo City marks a significant step toward reviving investor confidence in the city, aligning with Mayor Najie’s vision of fostering a more dynamic and business-friendly environment.
