Laguna Unveils Pilgrimage Tourism Program, Strengthening Faith, Culture, and Local Livelihoods
Laguna took a major step toward becoming a premier faith destination with the official launch of its Pilgrimage Tourism Program at the historic National Shrine of San Antonio de Padua in Pila on Saturday.

Designed to highlight the province’s deep-rooted spiritual heritage, the program places a spotlight on Laguna’s centuries-old churches, revered shrines, and living traditions that continue to shape the identity of its communities. Governor Sol Aragones emphasized the importance of these stories of devotion, noting that they are essential in preserving the cultural soul of Laguna.
More than a spiritual initiative, the program is also expected to provide a significant economic boost, promoting local products and supporting micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) across towns and cities. This integration of faith and livelihood aims to widen opportunities for residents while enriching visitor experience.
Various tourism stakeholders—including local tourism councils, and provincial leaders—pledged their full support, recognizing the program as a catalyst for economic activity and community development.

To ensure the program’s sustainability, the Laguna Tourism, Culture, Arts and Trade Office (LTCATO) will conduct a province-wide workshop for tourism officers in 2026.
Meanwhile, Vice Governor JM Carait committed to reviewing and strengthening Laguna’s tourism ordinance to align policies with the province’s renewed focus on pilgrimage travel.
